Died: April 4th, 1968


Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the greatest Civil Rights leaders this country has ever seen. King helped influenced the Civil Rights Act in 1964, a legislation that outlaws discrimination against minorities and women, and also the Voting Rights Acts of 1965, which forbids discrimination in voting.

  • Martin Luther King Jr. changed his name to Martin (from Michael) after his father choose that name to honor the late Protestant minister Martin Luther.
  • King was assassinated on April 4th, 1968 because of his activism.
