Ida B. Wells - Author, Journalist, Activist
Born: July 16th, 1862
Died: March 25th, 1931


Ida B. Wells documented the lynching of Blacks in the United States during the 1890's. She also wrote many essays and articles focus on race and racism in the 1800's.

  • Wells was born a slave.
  • She taught in a segregated school.
  • Ida B. Wells once sued a railroad company for unjust removing her from first class (because she was Black) and won $500.
